TRUTH4YOUTH
The project “TRUTH4YOUTH: Enhancing media literacy and critical thinking of young people to counter (climate) disinformation” is a two-year initiative under the EU CERV (Citizens’ Engagement and Participation) program, coordinated by the French organization La Maison de l’Europe des Landes (WIPSEE). The general objective of the project is to strengthen young people’s capacity to become resilient digital citizens and active defenders of democratic values by equipping them with the skills, tools, and spaces needed to critically recognize, counter, and prevent climate misinformation and online disinformation across Europe.
The project covers the following main topics:
- Digital citizenship and Democratic Engagement;
- Climate Misinformation & Online Disinformation;
- Digital Resilience & Critical Thinking;
- Youth Empowerment & Capacity Building;
First international project event
The first international project event took place in Florence, Italy from 27 to 31 March 2026. Experts of the 15 partner organizations, including two representatives of VVI Foundation, gathered in a working group, co-developing a Modular Empowerment Framework and Stakeholder Map and other important strategic documents for the project that will feature a series of international training and learning events followed by local activities on the project topic.
International Training of Trainers “Digital Disciplined Citizenship” under the TRUTH4YOUTH Project
From 17–22 May 2026, our foundation successfully hosted the international Training of Trainers “Digital Disciplined Citizenship” in Sofia, Bulgaria, as part of the TRUTH4YOUTH project, funded by the CERV Programme.
The training brought together 27 youth workers, trainers, and activists from 16 countries who spent five days exploring topics related to critical thinking, media literacy, and the active civic participation of young people in the digital environment.
The programme combined interactive workshops, simulations, and practical learning sessions focused on:
- identifying disinformation and manipulation;
- fact-checking and the application of prebunking approaches;
- building civic resilience;
- non-formal education methods and facilitation skills;
- creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments.
The training provided a valuable opportunity for international exchange, collaboration, and the sharing of good practices among organisations and youth workers from across Europe. Participants not only strengthened their competences but also developed new partnerships and ideas for future joint initiatives.
We would like to thank all participants for their energy, commitment, and inspiration. We look forward to the upcoming local activities and workshops with young people that will be implemented as a follow-up to the training and will contribute to building a more resilient, informed, and engaged youth community.
